Club Rules of Attire

Kankakee Country Club strives to provide a welcoming, comfortable, and appropriately presented environment for all Members and guests. Our goal is not formality for formality’s sake, but attire should reflect the traditions of the Club while remaining suitable for the activity, venue, and occasion.

Members and guests, ages ten (10) years and older, are expected to dress in a manner that is appropriate for a country club setting. Younger children are to be dressed in a manner appropriate to their ages and the occasion. Members are responsible for informing their families and guests of the Club’s dress standards and ensuring their compliance.

Dress Code Enforcement

The Kankakee Country Club Dress Code will be enforced at the discretion of Club Management.

Management may ask a Member or guest whose attire does not meet Club standards to change before utilizing a Club facility or participating in an event.

Repeated or continued disregard of the Dress Code may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the Club’s governing documents, including suspension or termination of Membership.

Section I - General Standards
Clothing must be clean, appropriately fitted, and in good condition. Torn, excessively worn, stained, soiled, or damaged clothing, including clothing with holes or burns, is not considered appropriate Club attire. Appropriate footwear and shirts are required throughout the Club unless otherwise designated for a specific recreational activity.

Members and guests are expected to maintain appropriate personal hygiene and grooming.
The following attire is not permitted on Club grounds, except when specifically appropriate for an athletic activity or otherwise authorized by Club Management:

Cut-off shorts, Pajamas or sleepwear, Sweatpants,
Hooded sweatshirts (except golf style), Athletic jerseys,
Midriff/crop tops or other similar articles of clothing which expose bare skin without any movement, Tank tops that can be worn as undershirts.
Clothing containing offensive language, graphics, or imagery

Denim
Denim is permitted only in designated casual areas of the Club. Permitted denim must be clean, properly fitted, and free of tears, holes, fraying, patches, or excessive distressing.

Denim is permitted in: 19th Hole, South Patio, Pool Deck
Denim is not permitted: on the golf course, on the driving range, on the putting green, in other golf practice areas, at special events held in the main dining room, unless otherwise stated for the event

Section II - General Definitions of Attire Categories

Athletic/Fitness: Acceptable Athletic/Fitness attire consists of closed-toed athletic shoes designed and intended for sports or exercising and clothing that is comfortable, breathable, and flexible. For purposes of this definition, acceptable Athletic/Fitness attire includes tops such as unaltered t-shirts, workout tops, sweatshirts (including those with a hood), workout shorts, workout leggings, warm-up suits, sweatpants, exercise joggers, and yoga pants. T-shirts and workout tops must come down to at least the navel. Workout shorts must fully cover the buttocks.

Racquet Sports: Acceptable Racquet Sports attire consists of tasteful styles of clothing as seen in the professional tennis and pickleball community, and which reflects the decorum of a private country club. For purposes of this definition, acceptable Racquet Sports attire includes clothing and non-marking shoes designed or appropriate for tennis or pickleball play.

Swimwear: Acceptable Swimwear is that which is suitable only for swimming, sunbathing, or other water-related activities. Swimwear typically consists of a swimsuit, such as a bikini, one-piece, or swim trunks. Cover-ups, shirts, and footwear should be worn when leaving the immediate pool area or entering other areas of the Club.

Golf: Acceptable Golf attire consists of tasteful styles of clothing as seen in the professional golf community, and which reflects the decorum of a private country club. Headwear is permitted but shall be worn “face forward” at all times.
Proper golf attire is required on the Golf Course, Driving Range, Putting Green, and practice areas. Denim is not permitted in any golf or practice area.

Men: Collared or appropriately designed golf shirts with golf slacks or golf shorts. Sweaters with a hood are permitted so long as they are fashioned for golfing.
Women: Recognized golf attire appropriate for play.

Country Club Casual is the standard attire throughout most areas of Kankakee Country Club.
Appropriate attire may include:

For Men: Collared or banded shirts, golf shirts, sweaters, slacks, khakis, and golf-appropriate shorts (seasonal).
For Women: Blouses, collared or banded shirts, sweaters, dresses, skirts, slacks, capris, and golf-appropriate shorts.

Business Casual Members and guests should dress at a level above standard Country Club Casual. Specific events or dining occasions may establish additional attire requirements.

For Men: Collared shirt, dress slacks or khakis, dress sweater; sport coat or jacket preferred.
For Women: Blouse, sweater, dress, skirt, slacks, or comparable business-casual attire.

Special Events & Private Functions
Dress requirements for special events and private functions may vary according to the occasion. Event attire may be designated as Country Club Casual, Business Casual, Cocktail Attire, Coat & Tie, Black Tie Optional, Black Tie, or another standard established for the event.

Cocktail Attire: Suit or sport coat and dress slacks for men; cocktail dresses, dressy separates, or comparable attire for women.
Coat & Tie: Coat and tie with dress slacks for men; cocktail dresses, long dresses, or dressy evening separates for women.
Black Tie Optional: Tuxedo or dark suit and tie for men; cocktail dresses, long dresses, or dressy evening separates for women.

When a specific dress standard is listed in an event invitation or Club communication, that standard supersedes the regular Club dress code for the event.
